Exposure to maternal high-fat diet induces extensive changes in the brain of adult offspring

چکیده

Abstract Maternal environmental exposures, such as high-fat diets, diabetes and obesity, can induce long-term effects in offspring. These include increased risk of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), depression anxiety. The mechanisms underlying these late-life neurologic are unknown. In this article, we measured changes the offspring brain determined which regions sensitive to maternal metabolic milieu therefore may mediate NDD risk. We showed that mice exposed a diet display extensive adulthood despite being switched low-fat at weaning. Brain impacted by early-life extended amygdalar system, plays an important role reward-seeking behaviour. Genes preferentially expressed have functions related feeding behaviour, while also implicated human NDDs, autism. Our data demonstrated exposure leads alterations persist into adulthood, even after dietary modifications.

The Effect of Maternal High-Fat Feeding on Energy Homeostasis in Stressed Adult Male Rat Offspring

Introduction: In the present study the effect of chronic maternal high-fat diet consumption on energy homeostasis and glucose metabolism in response to chronic stress was investigated in adult male rats. Materials and Methods: Female rats were divided into two groups of normal and high fat diets. Each group received their diet from 3 weeks before pregnancy until the end of lactation. At 8 weeks...

Maternal high‐fat diet in mice leads to innate airway hyperresponsiveness in the adult offspring

Maternal obesity prior to and during pregnancy has been associated with an increased incidence of childhood asthma. As diets rich in saturated fat are linked to obesity and inflammation, we created a murine model to investigate the effect of maternal high-fat diet (HFD) on adult offspring airway hyperreactivity (AHR), a cardinal feature of asthma. Balb/cByJ dams were fed a HFD (60% fat Calories...

Protective effects of troxerutin on maternal high-fat diet-induced impairments of spatial memory and apelin in the male offspring

Objective(s): Maternal high-fat diet (HFD) is linked with metabolic and cognitive deficits in offspring. Neuroprotective effects of troxerutin, a natural bioflavonoid, have been reported recently. This study aimed to investigate the effects of troxerutin on spatial memory and serum and hippocampal apelin levels in the male offspring of HFD fed mothers.Materials and Methods: Three-week-old femal...

Maternal high-fat diet consumption impairs exercise performance in offspring

The aim of the present study was to scrutinise the influence of maternal high-fat diet (mHFD) consumption during gestation and lactation on exercise performance and energy metabolism in male mouse offspring. Female C3H/HeJ mice were fed either a semi-synthetic high-fat diet (HFD; 40 % energy from fat) or a low-fat diet (LFD; 10 % energy from fat) throughout gestation and lactation. After weanin...

Maternal high-fat diet induces hyperproliferation and alters Pten/Akt signaling in prostates of offspring

Developing recommendations for prostate cancer prevention requires identification of modifiable risk factors. Maternal exposure to high-fat diet (HFD) initiates a broad array of second-generation adult disorders in murine models and humans. Here, we investigate whether maternal HFD in mice affects incidence of prostate hyperplasia in offspring. Using three independent assays, we demonstrate tha...
